Use case
Your lessons and coaching sessions, as clips that teach.
Coaches and course creators record hours of teaching that only paying students ever see. MakeRoll turns those recordings into short clips that each teach one complete idea, styled with your brand, so the people who have not bought yet can see how you teach. Lessons stay private: nothing is published unless you publish it.
The job, in plain words
You need a steady stream of short videos that make people want your course or your coaching, and you already have the raw material: lesson recordings, live workshops, Q&A calls. What you do not have is the time to rewatch them, find the moments that work outside the course, and edit each one so it looks like your brand.
A teaching clip has a particular job. It has to deliver something real, a fix, a framework, an answer, so a viewer learns from it and trusts you, while making it obvious there is more where it came from. That rules out teasers that cut away before the answer, and it rules out moments that only make sense to someone who watched lesson three.
How it works
Bring the recordings
Upload lesson files exported from your course platform or recording tool, or paste a Google Drive, Dropbox or Loom link. Paid plans take recordings of up to four hours each, enough for a full-day workshop split in two.
Find the moments that teach on their own
The finder proposes complete moments: a question with its full answer, a mistake and its fix, a framework from first step to last. Add the segments you already know are strong in Cut mode. Choose Fill to follow your face or Fit to keep a whole slide or screen in view, and apply a template carrying your brand kit: logo, fonts and colours.
Export or post, in more than one language
Publish to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube from MakeRoll on paid plans, or export the files for anywhere else. Captions can be translated into English, French or Spanish, so a lesson recorded in French can reach an English-speaking audience with the same cut.
Example: one 50-minute workshop, three teaching clips
Imagine a recorded workshop on pricing freelance services. Three moments work as standalone clips:
- The mistake and the fix, about 70 seconds: a participant shares the hourly rate she charges, the coach shows what it adds up to over a month, and explains the switch to a project price. It needs the participant’s permission, and has it.
- The framework, about 55 seconds: three questions to ask before quoting any project, each with a one-line reason. The slide carries the list, so the clip uses Fit to keep it readable.
- The objection, about 45 seconds: “what if the client says it’s too expensive?”, answered in full, ending on the exact sentence to say back.
This example is illustrative: it shows how to plan teaching clips, not the output of a real MakeRoll run.
What makes a teaching clip work
Teach one thing, completely
One question and its whole answer beats three half-explained tips. A viewer who learns something real from a clip has a reason to want the course.
Leave the answer in
Cutting away before the answer reads as bait and costs trust. Give the answer, and let the depth of the full course be what is held back.
Show the screen when it matters
For slides, code or a whiteboard, use Fit so the content stays readable; for talking to camera, use Fill so your face fills the frame.
Look the same every time
A template with your logo, fonts and colours makes every clip recognisably yours, across weeks of posts and every lesson they come from.
What you end up with
Clips that teach one thing
Each suggestion is a complete moment, so a viewer gets a full idea rather than a fragment of a lesson.
Your brand on every clip
The brand kit holds your logos and fonts on paid plans, and templates apply them to every clip from every recording.
Lessons stay private
Recordings are never published by MakeRoll; only the clips you choose to post leave your account.
What this does not do
If a recording includes clients or students, get their consent before posting a clip they appear or speak in. MakeRoll does not host or sell courses, and it posts directly to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube only: for LinkedIn or your course platform, export the file.
Questions people ask
Can I make clips from coaching calls with clients?
Technically yes, but only post a clip with the consent of everyone who appears or speaks in it. Many coaches clip their own explanations and leave the client’s side out.
Will my course videos become public?
No. Imported videos stay in your account. Nothing is published unless you publish a clip yourself. Paid plans keep videos while you subscribe; the free plan deletes them after 7 days.
Do slides and screen recordings work?
Yes. Choose Fit to keep the whole slide or screen in the vertical frame, or Fill to follow the speaker. You can switch per clip in the editor.
Can I add my logo and brand fonts?
Yes, on paid plans. The brand kit holds 8 logos and 2 custom fonts on Creator, 20 logos and 6 fonts on Pro, and templates apply your look to every clip.
How many lesson hours can I process a month?
Paid plans include 600 minutes of source video a month, about ten hours, with up to four hours per recording. The free plan includes 60 minutes, one video of up to an hour.
Credits are source minutes: a 60-minute video costs 60 credits, however many clips come out of it. Editing and exporting are free and unlimited. Pricing
