About
Clips that tell a whole story.
MakeRoll turns a long video into short vertical clips for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. It reads the whole episode, keeps only the moments a stranger can follow from start to finish, and tells you why each one should work.
What MakeRoll does
MakeRoll is a browser-based video editor that turns long videos into short, captioned, auto-reframed clips for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. It transcribes the source, finds the moments worth cutting, reframes them to vertical, and exports exactly what the preview shows. Nothing to install.
Paste a YouTube link or upload a file, and the clips are ready in a few minutes. Your caption style, layout and brand kit apply to every clip, and you can publish or schedule them straight to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
How the clip finder picks
- Whole stories only. Every clip carries its own setup and reaches its payoff. A cut that starts mid-story or stops before the punchline is re-cut, and dropped if it still is not complete.
- A score that means one thing. Each clip is scored from 60 to 96 on how strong the moment is, ranked against the other moments of the same video.
- A reason for every pick. Each clip comes with the line a viewer would quote and a sentence on why it should hold attention.
- Yours to change. Every cut opens in the editor, where you trim it on the transcript, restyle the captions and export.
The name
MakeRoll is one word with two capitals: make a roll, as in a roll of film. Searching for it turns up older, unrelated projects that happen to share the name, among them a 3D-printing spool holder and a command in Autodesk Maya. None of them is us.
