What exactly is a credit?+
One credit is one minute of source video, charged once when your video is processed. That single charge covers all the processing: transcription, highlight detection, smart reframing and captions. Editing, re-editing and exporting your clips never cost credits.
Do credits expire?+
They refresh rather than accumulate: every plan starts each billing month with its full allowance, and unused credits do not roll over. That includes the free plan: 60 credits a month, enough for about an hour of video, so you can keep trying the pipeline on your own content before paying anything.
Which languages are supported?+
Transcription runs on state-of-the-art multilingual speech recognition, so it works in French, English, Spanish, German and dozens of other languages. Captions come out in the language that is spoken, and you can translate them from there.
Can I translate my subtitles?+
Yes, in one click from the editor. Pick English, French or Spanish and the captions are rewritten in that language, keeping their timing, so the clip stays cut the way you cut it. Translation is included on every paid plan; the free plan keeps the original language. More languages are on the way.
Do I need to install anything?+
No. MakeRoll runs entirely in your browser: import, edit and export without downloading an app. Heavy lifting like transcription and rendering happens on our GPUs in the cloud.
Are there watermarks or export limits?+
Exports render in the cloud and are never metered on paid plans. We charge for the processing minutes that cost us GPU time, not for getting your own work back out. Free exports are 720p and open with a short MakeRoll intro; every paid plan, including the cheapest, exports clean: Full HD on Creator, 4K on Pro.
How long does it take to process an hour of video?+
Minutes, not hours. You do not have to watch it happen either: import runs in the background on our GPUs, so you can close the tab and come back to your clips. An option lets you turn on an email that tells you the moment processing is finished. Longer recordings take proportionally longer, since every minute you give us gets read.
Can I publish straight to TikTok and YouTube?+
Publishing and scheduling to TikTok, YouTube and Instagram from a single queue is coming soon. For now everything you export is a normal video file, so nothing stops you posting it anywhere you like by hand.
